AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Autumn is in full swing here in Europe, and the smell of pumpkin spice is around every cafe. Autumn is a great time to enjoy the cooler air, hear the scrunching of the leaves beneath your feet, and slow down as we approach the end of the year.

Unfortunately, the Devil never slows down. One of his most powerful events takes place during Autumn - Halloween. On this site, we have exposed many pagan holidays (Christmas, Easter - Part I, Part II, FAQs) for the occult holidays that they are. These are holidays that are not centered in Christ, but instead are Pagan holidays, used to celebrate Pagan gods, such as Baal or Sol-Invictus. These holidays simply 'pretend' to be Christ-centered. We also explained how God foresaw these holidays, and warned Israel to never worship him with these holidays, but only according to His appointed times.

While Christians never really question Christmas and Easter, it seems Halloween at least sparks a conversation amongst the faith. Some churches forbid Halloween, as they see it as a celebration of witchcraft and death. Other churches see it as innocent fun with children.

Here at Love Church, we do not compromise on God. So let's dive into Halloween and uncover its roots.

The Origin Story

Halloween has its roots in a Celtic festival. The Celts were a Pagan nation who worshipped false gods. The festival in question is Samhain. Sacrifices were brought before the false gods, and in turn, the gods would decrease the boundary between the living and the dead, and evil spirits were said to be set free into the world. To protect themselves against any harm, the Pagans would dress up as evil spirits or beings and use fires. Samhain is the biggest festival in Satanic worship.

How did the church get mixed up in the festival of Samhain? If you have read our other teachings on Christmas and Easter, you will have an idea - All roads lead to Rome.

Pope Boniface IV of The Roman Catholic Church introduced All Saints Day on May 13th, however, one year later, it was decided to unify All Saints Day and Samhain under one day of celebration to 'Anglicanize' the festival, and it was moved to November 1st and it has been celebrated like this ever since.

Once again we have a case of the Roman Catholic Church taking a Pagan festival and putting a Christian coat of paint over it. It is no different than Christmas or Easter.

Common Pushbacks

It is great to see some Christians stand up against Halloween, but some still put up arguments. We will present a few and then give Biblical reasons why these ideas are false:

  1. Halloween is about dressing up, having fun with friends, and eating candy.

Sin always sounds like fun, doesn't it? Halloween is a Satanic festival and God calls Christians to not follow these holidays.

Deu 12:4 You must not worship the LORD your God in their way.

The Satanic Priest of the Church of Satan says that Halloween is about cohering with the Devil. Why do you think you know better?

The same Satanic Priest became a follower of Christ and evangelises the Word of God, especially around Halloween, that Christians should not celebrate it. He also gave these wise words in one interview: "Satanists don't go to church one day a year, so why do Christians partake with the devil one day a year?"

  1. I do not believe in Occult things so it will not affect me

Halloween promotes themes of death, fear, and evil. On this night, Satanists and Occultists gather and chant spells and practice witchcraft, just as they did during the festival of Samhain. If you do not believe that these spells, charms, and practices are real, then you have not studied the Bible enough.

Halloween de-sensitizes us to the reality of the evil at work. By making 'fun' of witches, ghosts, and monsters, we become comfortable with these ideas and can unknowingly slip down a very slippery slope. If the God who created us wanted us to avoid Pagan festivals, how can you say that you know better?

  1. God does not say I can't celebrate Halloween.

God gives you freewill, so you can choose to do what you want, but if you want to follow God, the evidence is clear:

Eph 5:11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

God specifically forbids you from partaking in 'acts of darkness', which include seeking out mediums, sacrifices, divination, sorcery, engaging in witchcraft, interpreting omens, casting spells, or consulting the dead.

Deu 18:10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,

Deu 18:11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

Deu 18:12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD; because of these same detestable practices, the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you.

Whilst you might not believe you are taking part in these things, simply by participating in this Pagan festival, you are celebrating it, and all that is associated with it. Ask yourself - If something is not bringing me closer to God, do I want to do it?

  1. We do not call it Halloween - We call it Trick or Treat or Neewollah, so it is innocent.

The Pagan festival of Samhain was rebranded as All Saints Day and it kept all of its Satanic roots. Halloween is no different. Also, do not believe you are protecting your children by dressing Halloween as something else and portraying the evil entities as innocent.

  1. You cannot judge me for wanting to celebrate Halloween

I am sad when Christians say this because it highlights how they have cherry-picked the Bible.

Yeshua and the disciples make it very clear you are supposed to judge people within the body of Christ according to the Word (But not those outside of it). This is an authority we have been given as Christians, but must be done out of love:

1Co 5:3 For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this.

1Co 5:12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

1Co 5:13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”

Jhn 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

2Ti 4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

God gave us His Word so we can correct and rebuke other believers lovingly. This is a form of righteous judgement.

  1. I don't dress up as an evil entity so I don't celebrate evil spirits.

Just because you don't dress up, does not mean you are not participating. You are still dipping your toe into the Samhain festival. God totally forbids celebrating it. I am sure there were people in Samhain who said they didn't partake in the sacrifices, but still went to watch or enjoyed the "fun" parts of the festival.

  1. I will share the Gospel on Halloween

Love the idea, but this is still dangerous territory. I recently learned the word for this:

Syncretism - the amalgamation or attempted amalgamation of different religions, cultures, or schools of thought. Blending biblical faith with pagan practices.

There is a risk in sharing the Gospel during a holiday with evil roots, as it can dilute and alter the message if you start to adopt Pagan practices to spread the Word. Paul touches on this in 2 Corinthians:

2Co 6:15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

So if you do want to share the Gospel on Halloween, make sure you guard your heart and do not take part in ANY of the Halloween traditions, including dressing up. (And of course, do it with love)

Closing Thoughts

We are Children of Yehovah, the Most High God. You and I are called to be separate from the World, because we are not of the World. Satan will try to tempt you in any way he can. If he can get you to accept the idea of 'innocent fun' on the most sacred Satanic/Occult night, then he is winning. Even if you think you will be fine, it will just take one slip up, or one night when you stumble upon something you shouldn't, and suddenly it is not Yeshua living in your house, it's the Devil. Why do you want to celebrate or even partake in a festival with evil spirits, death, and ghosts when those are completely opposed to God?

As Yeshua plainly puts it, "If you are not for God, you are against Him", and that includes His commands.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Halloween may appear as innocent fun, but its roots and symbols are deeply rooted in practices that contradict the values of those seeking to follow God. By participating in Halloween traditions, even seemingly harmless ones, we risk aligning ourselves with principles and rituals that glorify darkness rather than the light of Christ.

We are called to be set apart, reflecting a life that honors God in all things. As children of Yehovah, let us choose celebrations and actions that bring us closer to Him, resisting any compromise with worldly customs that lead us away from His truth. Remember, our lives are meant to reflect His light—not the darkness.

Be blessed!
